A mech created purely for its overall utility, the Brigand is capable in a wide variety of applications, but does not excel in any particular discipline. A pirate design, thrown together from cast off components and battlefield salvage, it reflects the generally poor nature of the pirate clans who utilize it. However, it is capable of carrying energy based weaponry in sufficient quantities to be a problem, and given its [[ECM]], it is able to penetrate defensive lines and navigate with stealth. The [[Advanced Gyro]] creates a stable firing platform, even while being engaged by enemy forces. While not a particularly dangerous element, it is worthy of some respect. Failure to do so has brought more than one arrogant combat commander to an early exit from a campaign.<ref>[http://trm.mektek.net/index_mechs.htm MechWarrior4 - Technical Reference Manual]</ref>

Targeting with missiles is the best tactic against a mech that has no defensive capability in the form of [[AMS]]. The [[ECM]] will enable a quick weapons lock, and the Brigand will not withstand too many hits without being seriously damaged by the encounter. Interceptors are the next best option, using quick and agile I.S. or Clan designs to take advantage of its relatively poor chassis performance. Damaging the beam rack girdling its torso will degrade its offensive potential a great deal.<ref>[http://trm.mektek.net/index_mechs.htm MechWarrior4 - Technical Reference Manual]</ref>
